About this Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Learning Mentor at Horton Park Primary School.

The successful candidate will work directly with pupils who may experiencing social, emotional, behavioural or attendance challenges. The role will involve helping pupils engage positively with school life, build resilience and develop the skills they need to succeed both in an out of the classroom.  

Horton Park Primary School is part of Exceed Academies Trust, which currently consists of fourteen academies; ten primary schools, an all-through primary-to-secondary academy, two alternative provision academies (Primary and Secondary), and a specialist setting for children/young people who suffer from social, emotional and mental health difficulties.  The Trust has an excellent reputation within Bradford and beyond, and an outstanding track record of supporting staff in developing their careers through specialist training lead by the Exceed Teaching School Hub and our Outstanding SCITT.

The successful candidate will:

  • Support pupils with emotional, behavioural or social needs through 1:1 sessions, small groups and informal meetings
  • Develop trusting, nurturing relationships with pupils to boost confidence, self-esteem and emotional regulation 
  • Help pupils develop positive behaviour strategies and support their successful inclusion in the classroom
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCo, Inclusion Leader and families to identify barriers to learning and provide tailored interventions
  • Promote wellbeing, friendship skills, positive mental health and resilience through structured support 
  • Understand the needs of pupils with SEMH, behavioural or safeguarding concerns
  • Have experience working with children in a school or pastoral setting 
  • Hold a level 3 qualification or equivalent relevant to the role
