About this Role

Create Partnership Trust

Vacancy of Community Member to join the Local Governing Body (LGB) of Greet Primary School

Who are we seeking?

Create Partnership Trust’s Board of Directors (Trustees) is seeking to expand its Local Governing Body (LGB) at Greet Primary School and would like to appoint up to three community members to the group.  This person may be a local professional from public service such as education, health or social care, or have experience in the industrial or business sectors.  This is an unpaid position, but an important one in helping the school and the Trust to move forward in terms of their governance.

What is the LGB?

The LGB is a Committee of the Trust Board, focused purely on the work and performance of Greet Primary School.  Each Local Governor is appointed by, works on behalf of, and reports to the Board.

Its key roles are to:

·       have oversight of the academic and pastoral performance of the school and its leadership (including its safeguarding), providing appropriate support and challenge

·       encourage parental engagement and meeting of the needs of the community of pupils

Who attends the LGB meetings?

The LGB has up to nine Local Governors – all appointed by the Board: two parents, two members of staff (ideally one support staff and one teaching staff) and up to five persons appointed by the Board representing important local community matters, such as education and health.  Each Local Governor has a vote.  The term of office is four years.

Officers in attendance will include the Headteacher of the academy and (if they so elect) the Deputy Headteacher, the Chief Executive Officer or one or more of the Deputy Chief Executive Officers. These can observe and be invited to contribute but do not have a vote.

How often are LGB meetings held?

The LGB normally meets three times per year, usually around the start of each term so that Local Governors can receive the Headteacher’s report for the previous term and any other relevant information.  Other meetings may be called for particular reasons; for example, if there is an Ofsted inspection.  LGB meetings are likely to be held in person from 5.00pm to 6.30pm.

How can I get more information?

·       Check the school’s website (www.greet.bham.sch.uk) for details of the current Local Governors

·       Check the Trust’s website (www.createpartnershiptrust.org.uk) for wider information about the governance of our Trust of four schools

·       Speak to Tania Yasmin, Headteacher if you would like further information about the school or the work of the LGB.

·       Contact Emily Hartland (emily.hartland@create.org.uk) for an application form and any further information you require.

What is the timescale?

·       Initial expressions of interest by 30th April 2025

·

If I apply, what happens next?

Once applications are received, we will send for your references and arrange to meet with you.  All the information then goes to two Trustees who make the final recommendation to the Board at its next meeting.

We look forward to hearing from you!
