Cedars Academy | Robin Hood Multi Academy Trust

At Robin Hood Multi Academy Trust, we believe every child has the right to shine.

Cedars Academy is a richly diverse and ambitious school community where relationships matter, inclusion is lived, and children are prepared not just for lessons today, but for life tomorrow. Our values of respect, independence, resilience, fairness and legacy shape everything we do.

We are seeking a compassionate, skilled and proactive Teaching Assistant (Advanced) to join our team and make a genuine difference to children’s learning, wellbeing and future opportunities.

This is more than a support role. We are looking for someone who can lead learning, champion inclusion and help children thrive both academically and emotionally.

About the Role

As an Advanced Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and leaders to support high-quality teaching and learning across the school. You will deliver targeted interventions, provide pastoral support, mentor other teaching assistants and, when required, lead whole-class teaching.

You will play a vital role in helping children overcome barriers, develop confidence and achieve their full potential.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting and delivering high-quality learning activities for individuals, groups and whole classes

  • Leading interventions to close gaps in learning and improve outcomes

  • Supporting pupils with SEND and additional needs

  • Promoting independence, resilience and positive behaviour

  • Helping create stimulating and purposeful learning environments

  • Providing short-term classroom cover where required

  • Supporting pastoral provision and pupil wellbeing

  • Mentoring and supporting other teaching assistants and volunteers

  • Working collaboratively with teachers, families and external professionals

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Believes every child can succeed

  • Builds strong, positive relationships with children and families

  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • Can adapt, think proactively and remain calm under pressure

  • Has experience supporting teaching and learning in a primary setting

  • Understands inclusive practice and the needs of vulnerable learners

  • Demonstrates professionalism, warmth and integrity

  • Is committed to continual professional growth

Most importantly, we want someone who shares our belief that education should remove barriers, raise aspirations and help children become confident, compassionate citizens.

What We Offer

  • A welcoming and values-driven school community

  • Friendly, supportive and ambitious colleagues

  • Opportunities for professional development across the Trust

  • A culture where staff wellbeing and growth matter

  • The chance to make a meaningful difference every day

Robin Hood MAT is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff, including those within our Central Team, to share this commitment and to maintain a vigilant and safe environment across all our academies.

This post is considered "regulated activity" (or involves regular access to our school sites) and is therefore subject to an Enhanced DBS check with a check of the Children’s Barred List. It is an offence to apply for this role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity.

All shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a self-declaration of their criminal record or information that would make them unsuitable to work with children.

In line with the requirements of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE), we will conduct an online search on all shortlisted candidates as part of our due diligence process.  We will discuss any information flagged during this process with the candidate during the interview stage before making a final recruitment decision.
