Cedars Academy | Robin Hood Multi Academy Trust

At Robin Hood Multi Academy Trust, we believe every child has the right to shine — and that strong families and strong relationships are at the heart of successful schools.

Cedars Academy is a richly diverse and ambitious community where inclusion, compassion and opportunity shape everything we do. We are seeking a committed, empathetic and highly organised Family Support Worker / Coordinator to help remove barriers, strengthen family partnerships and improve outcomes for children.

This is a vital role for someone who believes in early intervention, relational practice and the power of community.

About the Role

As Family Support Worker / Coordinator, you will lead and coordinate family support and outreach provision across the school, with a particular focus on engaging vulnerable and hard-to-reach families. You will work closely with pupils, parents, pastoral teams, safeguarding leads and external agencies to ensure families receive the right support at the right time.

You will be a visible, trusted and proactive presence within the school community — someone who can build relationships, coordinate support and advocate for families with professionalism and compassion.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating targeted support for vulnerable pupils and families

  • Developing strategies to improve parental engagement and access to services

  • Working alongside school leaders, safeguarding teams and external agencies

  • Supporting attendance through early help interventions

  • Undertaking outreach work and home visits

  • Acting as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)

  • Maintaining accurate safeguarding and case management records

  • Supporting Early Help assessments and referrals

  • Providing practical guidance, signposting and emotional support to families

  • Leading and contributing to multi-agency meetings and reviews

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Is passionate about improving life chances for children and families

  • Can build trust quickly and communicate with empathy and professionalism

  • Has experience working with vulnerable children, families or safeguarding systems

  • Understands Early Help, attendance and multi-agency working

  • Is resilient, solution-focused and highly organised

  • Can work independently while also contributing strongly to a team

  • Demonstrates integrity, discretion and strong professional judgement

  • Shares our commitment to inclusion, fairness and opportunity for all

This role requires someone who can balance challenge with compassion and who understands that meaningful family support can transform a child’s future.

What We Offer

  • A welcoming and values-driven school community

  • Supportive leadership and collaborative colleagues

  • Professional development opportunities across the Trust

  • A chance to make a lasting impact on children and families

  • A role with genuine purpose and influence within the school community

Robin Hood MAT is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff, including those within our Central Team, to share this commitment and to maintain a vigilant and safe environment across all our academies.

This post is considered "regulated activity" (or involves regular access to our school sites) and is therefore subject to an Enhanced DBS check with a check of the Children’s Barred List. It is an offence to apply for this role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity.

All shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a self-declaration of their criminal record or information that would make them unsuitable to work with children.

In line with the requirements of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE), we will conduct an online search on all shortlisted candidates as part of our due diligence process.  We will discuss any information flagged during this process with the candidate during the interview stage before making a final recruitment decision.
