Term Time Only – 39 weeks, 37 hours per week

If so, we’d love to hear from you! Byron Wood Academy is looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant and supportive team.


About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a key role in shaping young minds and supporting their learning every step of the way. In this role, you will:

  • Make a real impact by supporting pupils across the curriculum and helping them grow in confidence and ability.
  • Work closely with individuals and small groups, guiding them through learning activities and celebrating their progress.
  • Create a welcoming, inclusive classroom environment where every child feels safe, supported, and ready to learn.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and active engagement, helping pupils stay focused and motivated.
  • Share valuable insights with teachers by providing feedback on pupil progress and development.
  • Keep the classroom running smoothly by assisting with displays, organisation, and light admin tasks.
  • Deliver targeted learning activities, including English and maths interventions, that help pupils overcome challenges and succeed.
  • Use technology creatively to support learning and promote independence in the classroom.

We’re Looking for Someone Who:

  • Has a good standard of general education (e.g. NVQ Level 2 or equivalent).
  • Has experience working with children in a primary school setting.
  • Understands the National Curriculum and how to support learning.
  • Is confident, enthusiastic, and motivated with a passion for education.
  • Has strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Is willing to undertake First Aid training if not already qualified.
