About this Role

From September 2026, we are looking to appoint an EYFS/KS1 Teaching Assistant for our small and caring school.  We are seeking a passionate, enthusiastic Teaching Assistant who is patient, understanding, has strong communications skills and enjoys working as part of a team. We are proud to be a creative, nurturing and supportive school; one where children have a real desire to learn and where a mutually respectful atmosphere exists between children and adults. 

 

Contract type: Permeant

Contract terms: Part time 

Working weeks: 39 weeks per year (term time only)

Paid weeks: 43.699 per year (includes holiday entitlement)

Working Days: Monday - Friday

Shift Times:  8:45-12:00, 13:00-15:15. With 30 minutes lunch cover.

Total Hours per week: 27.5

Payscale: Bridge 2

Full Time Equivalent (FTE) salary: £25948.96

Equivalent hourly rate£13.45

Actual Salary: £16,163.17

About this Role - As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in:

  • ·         Supporting high-quality teaching and learning across the classroom.
  • ·         Providing targeted support to pupils with Special Educational Needs/Disabilities (SEND) as required.
  • ·         Using ‘Read Write Inc’ and other systematic phonics programmes to help children learn to read, write, and spell fluently and confidently.
  • ·         Working closely with class teachers and the wider school team to create a calm, positive, supportive, and engaging learning environment.

About Our Primary School

Polruan Primary Academy is a small, happy and vibrant school, situated at the very top of the village with the most fantastic views of the Fowey Estuary. Our school currently has two classes: Canute Class (Key stage 1) and Tregeagle Class (Key stage 2) both inhabiting spacious, welcoming classrooms with access to outside space. We also have a pre-school nursery provision embedded in our KS1 classroom, providing a seamless transition from pre-school to school.

Children at our school develop a love for learning in the coastal and rural environment immediately surrounding us and use this to explore national and global issues.

We pride ourselves on our inclusive supportive ethos and high expectations for all. Our dedicated and highly skilled teaching staff work incredibly hard to ensure all pupils reach the highest standards during their time with us.
