About Our Primary School

Pelynt Primary Academy is a small, welcoming rural school and pre-school in the heart of Pelynt village, near Looe in Cornwall. Catering for children aged 2–11, we are proud to provide a nurturing, inclusive environment where every child is encouraged to learn, thrive and excel.

About the role

Based in the heart of our school, Samphire Class offers a fantastic indoor and outdoor learning environment where we tailor our curriculum and approach to help every child flourish. Working alongside experienced colleagues, you will support children to develop their communication, confidence, independence and love of learning.

Contract type:  Fixed Term

Contract end date if applicable:  22/07/2027

Contract terms: Part time 

Working weeks: 39 weeks per year (term time only)

Paid weeks: 43.699 per year (includes holiday entitlement)

Working Days: Wednesday to Friday

Shift Times: 08:30-15:30

Total Hours per week: 19.5

Payscale: Bridge 2

Full Time Equivalent (FTE) salary:  £25,498.96

Equivalent hourly rate: £13.45

Actual Salary: £11,461.15

Closing date: Midnight 15th July 2026

About this Role - As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in:

  •         Supporting high-quality teaching and learning across the classroom.
  •         Providing targeted support to pupils with Special Educational Needs/Disabilities (SEND) as required.
  •         Using ‘Read Write Inc’ and other systematic phonics programmes to help children learn to read, write, and spell fluently and confidently.
  •         Working closely with class teachers and the wider school team to create a calm, positive, supportive, and engaging learning environment.
