About this Role

St Nicholas CE Primary Academy is seeking a reliable, dedicated and detail‑oriented Cleaner to join our friendly and hardworking site team. This role is essential in helping us maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment for our pupils, staff and visitors.

You will play a key part in ensuring our school remains a place where children can learn, play and thrive in a hygienic and well‑maintained setting.

Hours: 12.5 hours per week (3.30pm – 6.00pm), term time only
Contract: Permanent

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean classrooms, cloakrooms, toilets, offices and other allocated areas to a high standard
  • Sweep, mop, dust and vacuum (including barrier matting)
  • Empty bins and manage waste appropriately
  • Replenish consumables such as soap, paper towels and toilet tissue
  • Operate cleaning equipment safely and effectively
  • Follow Health & Safety and COSHH guidelines at all times
  • Wear appropriate PPE/uniform during working hours
  • Take instruction and guidance from the Academy Operations Manager

 We are looking for someone who has:

  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and also use initiative
  • Reliability, attention to detail and a strong work ethic
  • Experience in a school or similar environment (desirable but not essential)
  • Understanding of COSHH and safe working practices
