Join a school that is building something remarkable.

At Portway, we believe that every child deserves an education that is joyful, ambitious, and deeply personalised. As we expand and strengthen our Specialist Provision, we are looking for an exceptional teacher and emerging leader who brings passion, expertise, and commitment to shaping a highly effective and nurturing learning environment for children with complex SEND.

This is not a typical SEN leadership role.

This is your opportunity to let your passion for teaching and learning shine! Lead a provision where children thrive, families feel supported, and staff are energised by expert guidance, high expectations, and care.

Why This Role Is Special

  • Shape the curriculum for a unique, growing provision.

  • Lead and inspire a team of committed LSAs who want to learn, collaborate, and deliver what works.

  • Work closely with external specialists, bringing high-quality therapeutic and educational input into the classroom.

  • Take ownership of assessment, ensuring every child’s progress is recognised, celebrated, and accelerated.

  • Lead Annual Reviews and influence long-term outcomes for children with EHCPs.

This role is for someone who wants to make a difference that truly matters—with strong leadership support, clear direction, and the time and resources to do the job well. Above all, we are looking for passion, care, and a relentless belief in what our children can achieve.

What We Offer

✔ A highly supportive senior leadership team

✔ Thoughtful workload management—you can focus on impact, not paperwork

✔ Investment in your professional development, including SENCO training if not already held

✔ A warm, inclusive culture where staff wellbeing is a priority

✔ A chance to shape a growing area of the school with your passion and expertise

About You

You will be:

  • A teacher with strong SEND experience

  • Passionate about child-centred, evidence-informed practice

  • A reflective practitioner keen to grow as a leader

  • Someone who thrives in a collaborative, supportive team

  • Highly organised, proactive, and calm under pressure

  • Skilled at working with parents, professionals, and LSAs

If you have the SENCO qualification, you’ll receive an SEN allowance—but if not, we will support you to gain it.

This Is Your Chance to Lead Something Extraordinary

If you want a role where your passion for teaching shines, your expertise is valued, and your work changes lives—this is the job for you.
