About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our academy for an enthusiastic and inspirational Science teacher. The successful candidate will have the ability to inspire learners to achieve excellent results. Join us and you will be part of a dynamic, enthusiastic, and committed Science Team.  You will be part of this forward-thinking team teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4 and the whole ability range, working together to create an extremely positive learning culture based on high expectations.  A real interest in developing teaching and learning is also important. This is an exciting time for our school as we strive to improve and are proud of our commitment to teaching and learning.

About our school

Cockshut Hill School is part of the Summit Learning Trust comprising Cockshut Hill, Lyndon School, Ninestiles, an Academy, four primary schools and the Solihull Sixth Form College. Our trust’s Professional Learning Institute offers all of our staff opportunities to collaborate with great educators from across our sector. We are one of the few schools in Birmingham to receive The Rights Respecting Schools, UNICEF UK Gold Award, for successfully embedding children’s rights throughout the school in our practices and ethos.  There is a strong culture of safeguarding and staff work positively with the leadership team to ensure students are kept safe.

Key responsibilities

  •  Have knowledge and understanding of the academy’s mission statement, aims, priorities, targets and balanced scorecard and the mission of the Summit Learning Trust
  • Set high expectations and targets for learners in every group taught based on the data provided.
  • Highlight positive performance and recognise and reward it appropriately.
  • Adhere to the Academy’s system for recording and reporting individual learner performance ensuring compliance with all deadlines.
  • Establish clear and constructive working relationships with other colleagues, focusing on maximising learner progress

 

About You

  •  Qualified Teacher Status required
  •  Evidence of committing to Continuing Personal Development
  • Proven ability to demonstrate good teaching ensuring all students make excellent progress
  • Successful and relevant secondary teaching experience
  • Clear understanding and detailed knowledge of current curriculum and assessment requirements and developments
  • Proven ability to manage behaviour both within class and throughout the school
