About this Role

The Batt School, St Mary’s Infants, Witney and The Oxford Diocesan Schools’ Trust (ODST) are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and preventing extremism; all staff must ensure that the highest priority is given to following the guidance and regulations to safeguard children and young people. The successful candidate will be required to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and obtain any other statutorily required clearance. Employment will also be conditional on the receipt of at least two acceptable references (1 from current/latest employer) and evidence of the formal qualifications required for the role. Online searches will be undertaken at shortlisting stage.

The Batt School and St Mary's Infants are seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and caring Teaching Assistant to join our supportive and dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in helping children thrive both academically and personally.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers to support learning across the curriculum. You will assist in creating a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment where every child feels valued and encouraged to succeed.

The schools work together under a supportive joint leadership team with vision and a passion for working with children within primary education. We value our support staff and seek to develop their expertise by offering a supportive working environment and access to relevant CPD. Contracts are issued to reflect working flexibly across two schools. The post is suitable for both experienced Teaching Assistants or those who are enthusiastic and passionate about beginning their career in this area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils individually and in small groups to reinforce learning
  • Assist the class teacher with lesson preparation and classroom organisation
  • Promote positive behaviour and help maintain a safe learning environment
  • Provide additional support for pupils with varying learning needs
  • Contribute to the wider school community

About You

  • A genuine passion for working with children
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude
  • Previous experience in a school setting is desirable but not essential
  • A willingness to learn and develop professionally

What We Offer

  • A welcoming and inclusive school environment
  • Opportunities for training and career development
  • A supportive and collaborative staff team
  • The chance to make a meaningful difference in children’s lives

If you are committed to supporting young learners and want to be part of a nurturing and inspiring school community, we would love to hear from you and warmly welcome visits to the schools prior to application. Please contact us at codriscoll@thebattschool.org.uk to arrange.

The schools are part of the Oxford Diocesan Schools' Trust, a large multi-academy trust consisting of 43 schools across Oxfordshire and Berkshire.

The closing date is Tuesday 24th April 2026 at 5pm but we reserve the right to interview early should outstanding early applications be received. Interviews are expected to take place in the week commencing 27th April 2026.
