About this Role

About this Role

The successful candidate will be a key member of staff who will be able to work with students who need support; either in the moment or in scheduled planned sessions. These may be some of our more vulnerable students, students with medical needs or injuries, students who have SEND or students who are academically struggling with their current curriculum. Irrespective of the need, the aim will always be to ensure students are supported with their studies and are able to return to their regular lessons as quickly as possible; equipped with the skills and knowledge to be successful.

You will be patient, calm and consistent in your approach to students with the ability to be flexible and offer subject support across a wide curriculum. You will understand the types of barriers young people face as well as being able to work with teaching staff to identify the curriculum areas where students need to focus.

Our ambition is to set no limits to what our students can achieve and equip our students for life beyond school. If you have the desire to help every child succeeded whatever their barriers to learning, we look forward to hearing from you.

About us

Newlands Girls’ School is a truly wonderful place to work.  Our school culture and the relationships between staff and students make us very special.  From phenomenal academic results to sporting triumphs and inspirational student leadership, our school community thrives. In May 2024, Ofsted reaffirmed what we already know — that Newlands remains outstanding in every sense. In fact, our latest Inspection Report opens by describing us as ‘exceptional’ - perfectly capturing the spirit and standards of our school.

Where we are going

As a school, we are constantly striving to be better and are currently implementing Tom Sherrington's Walkthrus as well as using research from Steplab, Peps Mcrae and evidence from some of the highest performing schools in the country. We believe in a consistent approach to teaching and learning but also departmental autonomy and put evidence-based approaches at the centre of our practise.

We have a Senior Leadership Team who positively embrace new ideas. If you are passionate about educational innovation and excited by the prospect of making a lasting impact in a school that values forward-thinking leadership, we would love to hear from you!

Join us in shaping exceptional futures for our students.
