Are you an Early Career Teacher ready to begin your teaching journey in a specialist setting where you will be supported, valued and encouraged to grow? About Danecourt & Maritime

Danecourt School is a specialist provision supporting pupils with additional needs. We are a caring, inclusive school where every child is known, understood and supported to achieve their individual potential.  We believe progress looks different for every pupil. Sometimes it is academic. Sometimes it is social. Sometimes it is emotional. All of it matters.  We are proud to be part of the Maritime Academy Trust — a collaborative network of schools across Kent, Medway and Greenwich, committed to innovation, professional development and ensuring every child receives the very best educational experience.

About The Role

As an ECT at Danecourt, you will be part of a warm, experienced and highly supportive team who are invested in your success.

You will benefit from:

  • A structured and fully supported ECT induction

  • An experienced mentor with specialist SEND knowledge

  • Smaller class sizes

  • Collaborative planning and team teaching opportunities

  • A strong focus on wellbeing and professional growth

You will teach pupils with additional needs and be supported to:

  • Develop high-quality adaptive teaching practice

  • Build strong, consistent relationships with pupils and families

  • Understand and support EHCP outcomes

  • Embed inclusive, personalised learning approaches

  • Develop confidence in supporting behaviour and emotional regulation

  • Reflect deeply on your practice and grow with purpose

You will never be expected to “figure it out alone.” Specialist education is a team effort, and you will be supported every step of the way.

Who You Are

We welcome applications from ECTs who:

  • Have (or will hold) Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Are passionate about inclusive education and making a difference

  • Are reflective, resilient and emotionally intelligent

  • Believe relationships are central to effective teaching

  • Are eager to develop specialist SEND expertise

  • Want to grow in a values-driven, supportive school community

You do not need prior specialist school experience — we will provide the training and guidance you need. What matters most is your mindset, commitment and willingness to learn.

Why SEND — and why now?

With increasing numbers of children requiring specialist support, SEND teachers are more needed than ever. This programme offers you:

  • Long-term career relevance and security

  • Specialist expertise that is highly valued and transferable

  • A role where your work genuinely changes lives

If you want your career to stand for something — this is it.

  • A fully supported ECT induction programme

  • Specialist SEND CPD and ongoing training

  • A collaborative and inclusive school culture
