About this Role

Teaching Assistant Level 2 (Learning Support Assistant)

Grade 3 | Full-time | Term-time only

We are seeking a resilient, patient and highly nurturing Teaching Assistant Level 2 to join our team and provide targeted 1:1 support for a pupil with additional needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference by supporting emotional regulation, learning engagement and independence.

About the Role

This role is focused on supporting a child with SEN/SEMH needs, helping them to access learning and develop the skills needed to thrive both academically and socially.

You will:

  • Support learning by breaking down tasks and adapting materials to reduce frustration and build confidence
  • Promote independence and social development, encouraging positive peer relationships and avoiding over-reliance on adult support
  • De-escalate situations using trauma-informed approaches, identifying early signs of dysregulation and guiding the pupil to regulate safely
  • Co-regulate – remain calm, consistent and reassuring, especially during moments of emotional distress

Alongside this specialist support, you will contribute to the wider classroom by helping to create a positive, inclusive and well-organised learning environment, working closely with the class teacher and SEN team.

 What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Calm, resilient and patient, able to remain solution-focused in challenging situations
  • Experienced in SEN/SEMH, with a strong understanding of behavioural and sensory needs
  • Knowledgeable about EHCPs, with the ability to deliver targeted support and interventions
  • Skilled in building positive relationships with pupils while maintaining clear boundaries
  • Committed to helping pupils develop confidence, independence and wellbeing

You will ideally have:

  • Experience working with children or young people with additional needs in a school or similar setting
  • Strong communication, behaviour support and teamwork skills
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above)

 Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a supportive, collaborative school team
  • Access ongoing training and development opportunities
  • Make a meaningful and lasting impact on a child’s life

 Safeguarding

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All appointments will be subject to appropriate safeguarding and pre-employment checks.
