About this Role

Steps to Success SEMH Outreach Service

Outreach Teacher

32.5 hours per week term time only + 5 training days (195 days)

Main pay scale/UPS

The Steps to Success Team is made up of experienced, specialist teachers and highly skilled learning support professionals. We offer support to schools across the city in all aspects of behaviour for learning and in developing their understanding of SEMH (social, emotional and mental health) and the possible impact on behaviour. We aim to support teachers to understand the behaviour, clarify their concerns and plan for change. Our work is informed by developmental trauma, nurture and attachment aware approaches. We offer a range of interventions to support individual learners, whole classes, teachers, support staff and whole school staff.

Whitehouse PRU is a primary Pupil Referral Unit in Hull that provides crucial support to pupils at risk of permanent exclusion from mainstream education. Specialising in supporting pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, we are dedicated to improving outcomes for vulnerable children and those facing challenges in regulating their behaviour.

We are looking to add an Outreach teacher to our current dedicated Steps to Success primary SEMH outreach service team. As an Outreach Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing behaviour support services to mainstream primary schools and enhancing their SEND provision. Working as part of a committed outreach team, you will have the autonomy to practise independently, focusing on behaviour management, consultation advice, service delivery, and decision-making.

We are seeking a teacher who:

  • Has demonstrated expertise in behaviour management
  • Is passionate about enhancing outcomes for primary aged pupils citywide
  • Is committed to fostering inclusive classroom practises and eliminating barriers to learning
  • Possesses a nurturing and solution-focused approach
  • Demonstrates outstanding communication and organisational skills
  • Is flexible, reliable, and motivated
  • Exhibits high levels of imagination, enthusiasm, and teamwork
  • Understands the significance of partnership working and professionalism

Joining Whitehouse PRU as an Outreach Teacher, you can expect:

  • A challenging and valued role that makes a difference in the lives of pupils across the city
  • Involvement in a supportive team with an outstanding reputation
  • Access to a tailored programme of continuous professional development opportunities

In addition to the above, as an Outreach Teacher, you will have the opportunity to teach and build positive relationships to support pupils with transition back to mainstream or a more appropriate specialist setting.

What we offer:

  • Opportunity to work in a rewarding environment that values making a positive impact
  • Collaborative and inclusive work culture
  •  Be part of an established team that prioritises supportive CPD opportunities.
  • Professional growth and development prospects

If you are a dedicated and passionate teacher with a strong commitment to inclusive education and behaviour support, we invite you to join our team at Whitehouse PRU. Make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable pupils and contribute to their success citywide.

Form an informal chat please contact Jake Thompson, principal on 01482 303300. Please note this role is not suitable for ECTs.

The closing date for applications is Friday 20th March 2026 12.00am
