We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant and Pastoral/ Nurture Lead to join our team from September 2026 for 32.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term-time only.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting pupils leading nurture provision, and helping children develop socially, emotionally, and academically within a safe and supportive environment.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Will provide targeted support for pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs, ensuring their individual needs are met.
  • Can lead and develop nurture provision, creating a safe and supportive space that promotes emotional wellbeing, resilience, and self-regulation.
  • Demonstrates a patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.
  • Can foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that builds confidence and independence.
  • Will support pupils in accessing the curriculum by adapting activities and resources to suit their individual learning needs.
  • Can work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to plan and deliver targeted interventions.
  • Will monitor pupil progress, recording achievements and areas for development, and share these with staff, parents, and external professionals.

Experience of working with vulnerable children or within a nurture provision is desirable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils, including those requiring nurture-based interventions.
  • Lead and manage nurture sessions across the school, promoting emotional wellbeing, social skills, and positive behaviour.
  • Support pupils’ learning, personal development, and behaviour in line with their individual education plans.
  • Assist in implementing learning activities, adapting resources, and supporting engagement during lessons.
  • Promote independence, confidence, and social development.
  • Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to teachers and the SENDCo.
  • Support pupils during unstructured times such as break and lunchtime where required.
  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
  • Prepare and organise resources to support both classroom learning and nurture provision.
