Purpose
of the Role
To
deliver high-quality Philosophy teaching to KS5 students, fostering critical
thinking, ethical reasoning, and a deep appreciation of philosophical ideas,
aligned with the school’s mission to develop a love of learning and a
commitment to Catholic education.
Key
Responsibilities
- Teaching and Learning
- Deliver engaging and
effective Philosophy lessons to KS5 students, ensuring lessons are
well-planned, differentiated, and aligned with the curriculum.
- Use a variety of teaching
methods to develop students’ analytical, evaluative, and reflective
skills.
- Promote a positive
learning environment that encourages student participation and
intellectual curiosity.
- Assess and provide
constructive feedback on student work to support progress and attainment.
- Curriculum and Assessment
- Support the
implementation of the KS5 Philosophy curriculum, ensuring it meets
examination board requirements and prepares students for A-level
assessments.
- Contribute to the
development of resources and teaching materials as needed.
- Maintain accurate records
of student attendance, progress, and assessment outcomes.
- Student Support and
Engagement
- Foster positive
relationships with students, supporting their academic and personal
development in line with the school’s values.
- Encourage students to
engage with philosophical ideas in relation to ethical and moral
questions, reflecting the school’s Catholic ethos.
- Professional Development
and Collaboration
- Participate in relevant
training and professional development opportunities.
- Work collaboratively with
the Humanities department and wider school staff to share best practice
and contribute to school improvement initiatives.
