The Mendip School are seeking to appoint hard working, resilient and dedicated teaching assistants to work with our children aged 4-19 with a diagnosis of Autism and/or Speech, Language and Communication Needs primarily within our early year class.

The post holders’ responsibilities include providing general classroom support, meeting pupils’ emotional, social and physical needs, supporting behaviour and liaising with teaching staff in the development and delivery of a differentiated curriculum.

We would encourage anyone with special school or mainstream experience to apply although full training will be given to the right candidates. We are looking for candidates who have the ability to;

This role will include:

working with early years pupils, who are working on their independence and self-help skills and need support through a sensory and child-led approach

encouraging learning through areas of interest

working closely with trained therapists to offer a holistic approach to learning

assisting with the development and implementation of individual Education and Personal care targets/programmes

setting high expectations, modelling language and behaviour and promoting self-esteem and independence

supporting other areas of the school where appropriate
