Ranikhet Academy is delighted to invite applications for the vital role of Assistant Headteacher. This is a brilliant opportunity to join an ambitious and forward thinking senior leadership team and use your skills, experience and vision to help shape the future for the children at Ranikhet Academy.
As Assistant Headteacher, you will work closely with the Headteacher and play a key role within the Senior Leadership Team. You will lead a core subject (matched to your skills and experience) and will help develop teaching and learning to secure great outcomes for pupils while also taking responsibility for a whole school leadership area. This is a role for someone who is ready to make a significant impact. You will also have the opportunity to collaborate at Trust level and with other leaders within our cluster of schools in Reading. Once established in your role, there may also be the opportunity for outreach work in other schools. 
You will have a passion and drive for delivering excellent teaching and be experienced in upper key stage 2 assessment procedures. You will receive regular dedicated release time to perform leadership duties.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • A relevant degree and Qualified Teacher Status

  • A proven track record of highly successful teaching

  • Leadership experience within a school setting

  • Experience in curriculum planning, implementation, assessment and recording

  • A strong understanding of what makes an effective learning environment within your phase

  • The ability to model outstanding classroom practice and articulate what excellent teaching and learning looks like

  • The ability to inspire, lead and motivate both children and staff

  • The capacity to influence and raise the quality of teaching and learning across the school

  • Up‑to‑date knowledge of legislation and guidance relating to safeguarding and working with children and young people

Personal Qualities

You should also be able to demonstrate:

  • A values driven approach and evidence of strong relational leadership

  • Leadership skills that secure first class teaching and learning for all children

  • The ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgement

  • A commitment to ongoing personal and professional development

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships with all stakeholders
