 Role overview

 We are beginning our search to find a dedicated SEN teaching Assistant to join our ARB to support us by covering parental leave . We are looking for a proactive team player that can bring with them a wealth of knowledge and experience of working with a high level of SEN. If you are passionate, patient 

In this role, you will support the teaching and learning for one of our wonderful pupils, building a positive relationship and bringing to the table a wide range of strategies that can be used to engage, enthuse and support. It is essential for you to have demonstrable awareness of the SEND code of practice.

Contract type:  Fixed-term - Maternity Cover

Contract end date if applicable: Anticipated to end in January 2027

Contract terms: Part time 

Working weeks: 39 weeks per year (term time only)

Paid weeks: 43.699 per year (includes holiday entitlement)

Working Days:  Initially Monday - Thursday, leading to Monday-Friday

Shift Times: 10:00-14:45 

Total Hours per week: 17

Payscale: Bridge 2

Full Time Equivalent (FTE) salary: £25,948.96

Equivalent hourly rate: £13.45

Actual Salary: £9,818.50

Closing date: 24/06/2026

Interview date: Week commencing 29/06/2026

Target start date: ASAP

 

About this Role - As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in:

  • Supporting high-quality teaching and learning across the classroom.
  • Providing targeted support to pupils with Special Educational Needs/Disabilities (SEND) as required.
  • Using ‘Read Write Inc’ and other systematic phonics programmes to help children learn to read, write, and spell fluently and confidently.
  •  Working closely with class teachers and the wider school team to create a calm, positive, supportive, and engaging learning environment.

  • Has a calm and professional approach, and enjoys working with children.
  • Can promote positive behaviours using appropriate strategies.
