Science Technician
Contract: Permanent, Full Time, Term Time Only
Salary: NJC Scale Points 6–9

Turing House School is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Science Technician to join our vibrant secondary school community. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dedicated team supporting the delivery of engaging and inspiring science lessons to our 1,006 pupils.
The Role
As a Science Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the Science Department by preparing resources, maintaining equipment, and ensuring a safe and well‑organised learning environment. You will work closely with teachers and students, contributing to the smooth running of practical lessons and helping to foster a love of science.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, set up, and check equipment and materials for science lessons, practical's, and assessments across all key stages
- Maintain, store, and safely dispose of materials and chemicals in line with health and safety regulations
- Support teachers and students during practical lessons, providing guidance on the safe and effective use of equipment
- Carry out routine maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs of science equipment
- Monitor and manage stock levels, order resources as required, and maintain accurate inventories
- Ensure laboratories and preparation rooms are kept tidy, safe, and well organised
- Support the implementation of health and safety policies and complete relevant risk assessments
- Perform duties and attend meetings as reasonably required
- Participate in the school’s performance management scheme
- Undertake in‑service training where required and share skills and expertise with colleagues
- Contribute to the school’s pastoral system
- Observe and implement current school policies and best practice
- Contribute to the overall ethos, work, and aims of the school
- Carry out any other duties reasonably directed by the Headteacher
About You
We are looking for someone who is organised, reliable, and passionate about science education.
Previous experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided for the right candidate.
