Attendance Administrator
Contract: Full Time, Fixed Term, Term Time Only
Salary: NJC Scale 6–9 (£29,856 – £31,158)

Job Profile
Core Purpose
To provide efficient and effective administrative support to improve pupil
attendance, ensure accurate record‑keeping, and contribute to a positive school
environment. The postholder will work closely with staff, parents, and pupils
to promote excellent attendance and punctuality across the school.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor daily
pupil attendance and follow up promptly on absences
- Ensure registers
are completed accurately and in line with statutory requirements
- Produce regular
attendance reports for senior leaders and statutory returns
- Support attendance
and punctuality interventions
- Maintain accurate
and up‑to‑date records on the school’s Management Information System (MIS)
- Respond to
attendance‑related queries from staff, pupils, and parents
- Assist with
statutory attendance procedures, including penalty notices
- Maintain
confidentiality and adhere to safeguarding requirements
- Support the wider
administration team as required
Safeguarding
This role involves regulated activity with children. All staff must
comply with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE). Appointments are
subject to enhanced safeguarding checks.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- GCSEs (Grade A*–C
/ 9–4) in English and Mathematics (or equivalent)
- Relevant training
in administration or data management (desirable)
Experience
- Previous
experience in a school or busy office environment
- Experience using
attendance systems or school MIS
- Experience
handling sensitive data and maintaining confidentiality
Skills and Knowledge
- Strong IT skills,
including Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of
statutory attendance procedures and safeguarding requirements
- Excellent
organisational and communication skills
