Science Laboratory Technician
Term time only plus two
weeks of the holidays, 36.5 hours per week
Monday to Thursday 8.00 am – 4.00 pm
Friday 8.00 a.m. – 3.00 p.m. (thirty-minute
unpaid lunch to be taken during this time)
Salary and benefits
Salary Grade 2 Salary range £22,489
- £24,328 this is term time only there is the opportunity to work a further two
weeks within the school holidays to help with stock taking etc. school holidays.
Candidates with long term experience
and appropriate qualifications should apply and discussion on appropriate scale
and pay would be considered.
Additional opportunities to do a paid

We are seeking a Science Laboratory Technician to join
a thriving Science faculty. This represents an excellent opportunity to work as
part of an experienced team. And with students from primary years up to sixth
form. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Faculty in
Science and Senior Laboratory Technician to support growth and progression.
The successful candidate will:
· Have responsibility for preparing materials,
chemicals and equipment for and during practical sessions within science.
· Be involved in providing support to students and
staff in respect of any relevant training and operating equipment.
· Be responsible for implementing risk assessments
in the practical areas of the science department.
· Have responsibility for clearing labs, cleaning
materials and equipment following practical sessions in science.
· Need to be flexible and have previous knowledge
of materials preparation, experiment preparation and equipment maintenance
along with strict adherence to health and safety; it is essential that you can
demonstrate good organisational skills and pro-active thinking and planning.
Scientific or technical background would be advantageous, although is not
essential.
· Have knowledge of (or willingness
to learn about) CLEAPPS, COSHH and keeping of microbiological stock would also
be an advantage. Level 3 qualifications in science would be advantageous, but
not essential.
A successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate the following characteristics:

· Highly developed organisational skills dealing with multiple tasks simultaneously

· High personal standards including managing corridor
spaces in a busy school environment on duty
· Excellent health and attendance record
· Excellent communication skills
· Experience of working with children would be an advantage
