About this Role

This position is for 30 hours a week, 39 weeks per year (including PD days) , 1:1 and/or Teaching and Learning Support for SEND Pupil (s)

  • Do you have a proven track record of success of supporting pupils with varying needs across school settings?

St Helen’s is a wonderfully inclusive school to work in.  Based in the centre of the town we serve a rich and culturally diverse community that makes our school special in so many ways. We are always striving to improve the outcomes for our pupils and believe in an ‘equity for all’ approach to learning. We are seeking to employ Teaching and Learning Support Assistants to work with some of our pupils who cannot always access what the mainstream classroom has to offer and may need an individualised curriculum for parts of the day. These pupils may have significant SEN need or behaviours that require specific 1:1 or small group support in order to succeed.

We would like to encourage applicants to apply who:

  • believe that all children have the potential to move forward in learning and social skills.

  • have a calm and organised approach to working

  • are capable of working with and taking advice from external agencies

  • are confident and assertive in dealing with challenging behaviours but understand that these behaviours are communication

  • are interested in helping children to develop positive learning behaviours and independence

  • can adapt to duties and responsibilities as per the needs of the pupils in your care

    • are resilient and able to develop relational practices.

      good English and maths skills

    We can offer you:

    • the chance to be part of a multi-culturally diverse and inclusive school

    • respectful, well-motivated and happy children.

Daily support and guidance from an experienced team.

    • an opportunity to work with a friendly and skilled team of support assistants, teachers and leaders

    • a network of support across 15 ASSET schools and external providers

    • ongoing professional development to further flourish your career

ASSET Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020.

The successful candidate will have to meet the requirements of the job description and will be subject to pre-employment checks including  an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and children's barred list check, health check, online search and  satisfactory references. Copies of our safeguarding and safer recruitment policies are available on request.
