St James CE Primary School is a relationships-led, two form entry primary school in the heart of Northampton. Part of the Peterborough Diocese Education Trust (PDET), we have a strong Christian ethos and commitment to inclusion. This role seeks an inspiring individual to lead the PARC SEMH Nurture provision.

The role will involve supporting the Inclusion and Behaviour Assistant Head by:

·        Meeting regularly with the Assistant Headteacher to discuss all aspects of the provision.

·        To attend some HARPS meetings alongside the Assistant Headteacher.

·        Working closely with the Assistant Headteacher during on-boarding cycles to assist with meeting schools, parents and new pupils.

·        Following the Nurture Timeline for each cohort to make sure deadlines are met for assessing, planning, monitoring and reviewing – overseen by the Assistant Head.

·        To liaise with Assistant Head to complete any forms or paperwork linked to daily events in the Nurture provision (restrictive interventions, safeguarding and incident logs etc.)

·        Collating information needed to contribute towards reports, reviews and reintegration plans.

·        Attending staff meetings as and when required through discussions with leadership team.

·        To gather information needed for supporting the reintegration process and work alongside the Assistant Head to plan timetables, meetings and complete plans that are shared with schools.

·        To attend review meetings alongside the Assistant Head, schools, LA and parents to discuss pupil’s strengths, progress and areas for development.

·        To attend the reintegration meetings alongside the Assistant Head and home schools to discuss pupils and their needs moving forward.

·        Identify and attend training that can be shared with Nurture team during post and preplacement team time.

·        Deliver training to Nurture team during post/preplacement time.

 

The role will support the home schools and parents by:

·        Support the role of parents in pupils’ learning and attend, alongside the Assistant Head, meeting with parents to provide constructive feedback on progress, achievement and behaviour, always maintaining sensitivity and confidentiality.

·        Supporting parents and home schools with feedback and advise on specific needs of pupils.

·        Liaise day to day, when needed, with home schools and parents as needed to make sure information is passed on.

 

The role will support the running of the PARC SEMH Nurture provision by:

·        Leading morning team meetings to discuss timeline, planning, weekly tasks and to support team in completing them.

·        Alerting the Assistant Head or another DSL of safeguarding concerns – following schools’ policies

·        To check safeguarding and incident logs and alert the Assistant Head to any that need to be shared with home schools or parents need to be contacted.

·        Alongside the Assistant Headteacher, overseeing the planning cycle for each cohort, making adaptations to the curriculum depending on the age range and developmental needs of pupils.

·        With the support of the Nurture team, complete regulation response plans, then work with the Assistant Head to support the writing of risk assessments with positive handling plans for each pupil.

·        Delegating roles and responsibilities within the team to ensure the smooth day -to day running of the PARC.

·        Model and coach team to identify children’s barriers and how to support them using emotion coaching strategies to identify, label, be curious, limit, problem solve and restore and repair.

·        To provide cover in the nurture provision for absence and training including covering staff break times.

·        To support the Assistant Head in deploying nurture team during post/preplacement time – making sure the environment, resources, planning and documentation is all up to date and organised.

·        Coaching Nurture team in principles of nurture and developing their knowledge and understanding of behaviour as a form of communication and how emotion coaching is used to support the nurture principles.

 

The role will involve supporting the pupils by:

·        Teaching both classes every day to build relationships with pupils and to support the team in identifying areas of need for the pupils.

·        Liaising with the Assistant Head on training and development needs of team.

·        To assist the Nurture team to help pupils that may need support through emotional dysregulation or periods of heightened emotions. 

·        Use behaviour management strategies, in line with the school’s policies and procedures and nurture principles, to contribute to a purposeful learning environment and encourage pupils to interact and work co-operatively with others.

·        Supporting and challenging pupils to learn more about themselves and build their self-esteem and confidence within a classroom environment.
