Purpose:
To assist all students on the secondary
school site by providing first aid facilities/treatment. You must hold a first aid qualification.
Main Duties and Responsibilities

To provide an effective first aid
service to all students on the secondary school site.
·
To liaise and coordinate first aid
incidences with staff and be contact for emergency services when required.
·
To act as a designated first aider in
order to ensure Sydney Russell School meets it legal requirements under the
Health & Safety at Work act.
·
To coordinate the running, cleaning and
provision of the first aid room and its facilities.
·
To ensure at all times that you operate
to the highest standards of care and patience with all students.
·
To attend appropriate training when
required and ensure you hold a valid appropriate first aid qualification whilst
working as part of the first aid support.
·
To always work within Health &
Safety guidelines.
·
To ensure accurate and appropriate
recordings of all first aid cases treated.
·
To make entries onto Medical Tracker
software
·
To ensure all reports regarding first
aid incidences are completed.
·
To ensure that the first aid supplies
are kept fully stocked and stock shortages reported to the School Business
Leader as a matter of urgency.
·
To provide welfare to students in
distress/suffering from illness or injury and provide advice and support.
·
To ensure and assist with the safe
transfer of patients to home or hospital as appropriate.
·
To attend regular team meetings.
·
To check all medication each term and
dispose of out of date medication, and any medication expiring to contact all
parents/carers to inform them.
All staff are responsible for promoting
and safeguarding the welfare of students by always ensuring compliance with the
school’s Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy. All staff must report any
actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of students to the
Designated Safeguarding Lead.

The post holder is required to support and encourage the school’s ethos
and its objectives, policies and procedures as agreed by the governing body:

Will be subject
to the National Agreement on Pay and Conditions of Service, supplemented by
local conditions as appropriate and all relevant statutory and institutional
requirements
