About this Role

Pentland Field School, part of the Eden Academy, is a good school; we are proud of the way our school community works together to achieve the very best for our children.

We are looking to appoint an Assistant Head of School, with Departmental Responsibility. This is an exciting opportunity for candidates seeking to develop their leadership career.

Pentland Field has over 175 pupils aged 4-19, with a range of learning difficulties. Including additional social, emotional and behavioural challenges. A significant proportion of pupils have an Autistic Spectrum Condition, or present with more complex social and communication difficulties. A small but significant group of pupils have Higher Sensory Processing Needs.

We are looking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Head of School to work as a crucial part of the school’s leadership and management team.

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Support the work of safeguarding and child protection within across the school, by taking the role of Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.
  • Bring strategic leadership to the school including to departments with significant inspection responsibility, such as the Early Years or Post 16 provision
  • Be operationally responsible for such areas
  • Ensure high quality provision across the school, leading on areas of school development, as identified by the Headteacher, which results in excellent outcomes for all learners
  • Contribute to the strategic development of all parts of the school through active membership of the school’s Senior Leadership Team
  • Support the Headteacher and Senior colleagues in the day-to-day operational management of the school
  • Carry out the professional duties of a teacher, to include teaching a class or classes (usually up to 0.5 of time in school)
  • Have the teaching skill required to support colleagues formally or informally through a cycle of learning observations, feedback, modelling and coaching performance
  • Undertake such additional duties as are delegated by the Headteacher

The Eden Academy provides extensive opportunities for aspiring leaders to become Assistant Heads, Deputy Heads, Heads of School or Headteachers.

If you would like an informal discussion about the role please contact Ivan Talbott, Headteacher via info@pentlandfieldschool.co.uk
