Job Title: Breakfast Club Assistant
Employer: Heronshill School & Nursery, Milton Keynes
Hours: 5.85 hours per week . 38 weeks per year
Monday – Friday mornings (term‑time only) — 7:20 am – 8:30 am
Start Date: ASAP
Heronshill School & Nursery is a warm, caring and ambitious school where children thrive. As part of the Inspiring Futures through Learning (MK‑based Multi‑Academy Trust), we pride ourselves on our ethos of Learning, Love & Laughter. We know each child well and support them to become independent, confident learners who believe they can achieve anything.
As a Breakfast Club Assistant you will:
Greet children as they arrive and ensure they settle into the club with a calm and welcoming attitude.
Prepare and serve a healthy breakfast, ensuring dietary needs/allergies are catered for.
Supervise children’s play and activity until the start of the school day; this may include indoor games, crafts, reading, or quiet time.
Help maintain a safe, clean and engaging breakfast‑club environment; tidy up, clear away, wash up and reset the room.
Support children’s social interaction, encourage positive behaviour and ensure all children feel included.
Liaise with the school staff about any issues and ensure children transition smoothly into the start of the school day.
We’re looking for someone who:
Has experience working with primary‑aged children (ideally 3 – 7 yrs), either in a school, nursery, club or similar setting.
Has a nurturing, friendly manner and enjoys working as part of a team.
Has good organisational skills, can work independently before the school day starts and keep a safe, structured environment.
Is reliable and punctual (the breakfast club is the first stop for many children!).
Has basic food hygiene awareness. (Training will be provided if required.)
Shares the school’s values and is committed to supporting children to flourish.
Friendly, inclusive and supportive school community.
Term‑time working — ideal for those looking to work in and around school hours.
Opportunity to make a real difference in the start of a child’s school day — promoting positive routines, readiness to learn and a happy morning.
Training and development opportunities through the MAT.
Our children and young people come from a wide range of
backgrounds, and so do our colleagues. We aim to reflect and celebrate
diversity in our workplace in order to create an inclusive culture that adds
real value to our vision of inspiring the futures of us all through learning
together.
