About this Role

As the Forest School Leader, you will provide holistic, child-centred learning and creative experiences in the natural environment. You will lead outdoor learning sessions and help children explore, discover, and learn through hands-on activities in our dedicated forest/woodland space.

You will promote and foster resilient and independent learners who respect the environment, learn to problem-solve and manage risk and work as part of a team to sustainably maintain the Forest School site through a deep understanding of biodiversity and respect for the local and broader community.

You will plan, prepare, and deliver purposeful learning using innovative approaches with the support of the senior leadership team, encouraging children to explore and experiment outdoors and manage risk safely. At the same time, they learn about sustainability and respect for the world around them to foster curiosity.

About You

You will be passionate about ensuring all children are supported to do their best. You will be trustworthy, enthusiastic, full of energy, well-organised, and self-motivated.
You will also have excellent communication skills and be able to build a strong and appropriate rapport with children and parents/carers.
You will have practical experience in an outdoor environment and knowledge of child protection, safeguarding and health and safety in outdoor activities.

You need to have good literacy skills and be passionate about making learning irresistible for children. You should also be able to adapt where necessary to support children’s individual needs.
You will also need to maintain confidentiality, be highly professional, and be committed to improving your own practice.
Ideally, you will have experience working with children across the primary curriculum, including those with social, emotional, and mental health needs and a Forest School Training qualification or willing to work towards one.
