Castlewood School is seeking to appoint a skilled and adaptable KS2/KS3 Teacher to work within our unique primary–secondary hybrid model.

This is a permanent position and an exciting opportunity to support pupils’ transition from primary into secondary, within a specialist SEMH setting.

About the Role:

This role is centred on teaching a Year 7 cohort as a core class teacher, delivering a primary-style model of provision to support pupils’ emotional and academic transition into secondary education.

You will:

  • Teach a Year 7 class, delivering core subjects including:

    • Science
  • Deliver additional subjects where appropriate, creating a broad and balanced curriculum
  • Provide consistency, structure, and nurture to support pupils as they adapt to secondary routines and expectations
  • Build strong relationships to support pupils with SEMH needs

Alongside this, you will:

  • Teach non-core subjects to KS2 classes when the Year 7 cohort are being taught by subject specialists
  • Work across phases, supporting a joined-up approach between KS2 and KS3

As part of our ongoing curriculum development and in response to the needs of the school, the successful candidate may be required in future years to teach across different year groups within KS2 and KS3.

This role therefore suits a teacher who is flexible, adaptable, and committed to working across phases to support the best outcomes for our pupils.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use assessment and behaviour data to inform planning and ensure pupil progress
  • Support pupils’ social, emotional and behavioural development alongside academic learning
  • Create a safe, structured classroom environment with high expectations for behaviour and engagement
  • Support pupils in developing the skills needed to successfully transition into secondary curriculum and routines
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, including subject specialists and pastoral teams
  • Contribute to the wider life and ethos of the school

  • Can adapt teaching to meet a wide range of learning and behavioural needs
  • Builds positive relationships and maintains high expectations for all pupils
  • Works effectively as part of a team and contributes to school development
