About this Role

Teacher of Science

We warmly welcome applications from ECTs and we offer a highly regarded and comprehensive training programme.

To commence April or September 2025, ideally this is a full-time position, however part-time will be considered.

Blessed George Napier is a popular, over-subscribed, Catholic School in Banbury with an excellent reputation for both academic achievement and student welfare.

“Pupils are keen to be part of this thoughtful and inclusive school… enjoying learning and showing kindness are part of everyday life… Pupils talk positively about the support provided for their physical and mental well-being… and study an ambitious curriculum.”

OFSTED, November 2022

This is an exciting opportunity to join our extremely successful Science Department where students are confident, well-mannered and keen to succeed.  Able to motivate and inspire students through excellent subject knowledge, you will be comfortable teaching engaging, challenging Science lessons with creativity and enthusiasm. You should be passionate about your subject and fully committed to improving the outcomes for all our pupils.

We are in an exciting period of growth within the school and our newly built science classrooms are now open in support of this.

Our people are at the heart of our success and in return we offer:

  • An exciting opportunity to work with an outstanding and supportive team
  • Excellent CPD and leadership opportunities
  • Commitment to employee health and wellbeing, including a dedicated Employee Assistance Programme
  • Entry into the Teachers’ Pension Scheme

All applicants must be able to demonstrate an empathy for, and understanding of, the Catholic Christian ethos of the school.

Please note that we will evaluate applications on receipt and may contact suitable candidates for interview before the closing date. Therefore, the advert may close earlier than indicated so submitting an early application is recommended.

Safeguarding screening, including online searches, will be undertaken on all shortlisted candidates. BGN is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students and to upholding fundamental British Values.  We expect all our employees to share this commitment. The post will require an enhanced DBS check.
