About this Role

We are seeking an inspirational and committed teacher to lead high quality and inclusive education within our SEND Unit. This is a key role within the Academy, focused on ensuring pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) receive a high quality, ambitious and inclusive education that enables them to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

The role combines hands on teaching with leadership and quality assurance, including modelling excellent classroom practice, supporting and guiding staff, and ensuring interventions are impactful. Through strong relationships with pupils, families and partner agencies, you will help create an environment where children and young people with SEND can flourish academically, socially and emotionally.

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Provide day to day leadership of the SEND Unit, including teaching within the provision and ensuring consistently high quality practice. 
  • Oversee accurate, cyclical assessment and use this effectively to inform planning, provision and next steps for pupils. 
  • Work in close partnership with WISENDSS, Educational Psychologists and the Local Authority SEN team to drive continuous improvement, pupil progress and effective use of specialist provision. 
  • Act as a passionate and knowledgeable advocate for pupils with SEND, championing inclusive practice and school improvement. 
  • Identify barriers to learning and wellbeing, demonstrating resilience, creativity and expertise in overcoming them. 
  • Deliver and model high quality teaching, quality assure support staff interventions and provide expert guidance to staff, pupils, families and partner agencies. 
  • Secure positive academic, social and emotional outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
