About this Role

The Cooper School, Bicester are seeking an Attendance Support Officer, who will play a vital role in helping students thrive. This is a fixed term role and will be central to delivering our whole‑school attendance strategy, ensuring every young person feels supported, engaged and able to attend regularly. With a particular focus on students eligible for Pupil Premium and those with SEN needs, you will work closely with our Cover and Attendance Manager, Safeguarding team and Pastoral teams to remove barriers to attendance and promote a culture where every day in school matters.

You’ll build positive relationships with students and families, provide targeted support, monitor attendance patterns, and carry out essential follow‑up including welfare checks and home visits. Through collaboration with internal teams and external agencies, you’ll ensure the right support is in place at the right time.

This is a dynamic role that blends casework, communication, safeguarding awareness and data‑led decision‑making. You will champion good attendance across the school, contribute to reward initiatives, and help maintain effective attendance systems. Your work will make a measurable difference to student wellbeing, inclusion and educational outcomes.
