About this Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Art Mentor to join our dedicated team. This is a unique opportunity to use creative, child-centred approaches to help pupils develop confidence, resilience, communication skills, and emotional regulation through structured art-based support.

About the Role

The successful candidate will work with pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, delivering engaging art activities designed to support emotional, social, and academic development. You will play a key role in helping children express themselves creatively, overcome barriers to learning, and engage positively in school life.

Working closely with the SENCo and teaching staff, you will contribute to personalised support plans and wider school initiatives that promote wellbeing and inclusion.

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience working with children in a school or similar setting.
  • Demonstrates strong artistic and creative skills.
  • Is empathetic, patient, and able to build positive relationships with children.
  • Understands the emotional and social needs of primary-aged pupils.
  • Is working towards a relevant therapeutic qualification and is committed to ongoing professional development.
  • Has a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.

Desirable Experience

  • Delivering art-based interventions or therapeutic activities.
  • Adapting creative activities to meet a range of learning needs and abilities.

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to make a meaningful difference to children's lives every day.
  • A supportive and collaborative working environment.
  • The chance to contribute to a creative and inclusive school community.

If you are passionate about creativity, wellbeing, and supporting children to achieve their full potential, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Apply today and help inspire, support, and empower the next generation through art.

Heathland School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. All appointments are subject to enhanced DBS clearance and online checks will be undertaken before interview in line with KCSiE 2024.
