About this Role

Are you passionate about making a difference in your community and shaping the future of our school?

William Law CE Primary School is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic School Forum Member.

 What is the School Forum?

The School Forum is part of the Peterborough Diocese Education Trust (PDET) and exists to help our school live out its vision and values as a church school, acting as an anchor within the local community. Together, we work to support pupils, staff, parents, carers, and the wider community by listening to their voices and taking action.

 Roles of School Forum Members

As a member, you’ll help to:

  • Champion Stakeholder Voices – Gather and share feedback from pupils, staff, parents, and the community to shape next steps.
  • Strengthen Community & Church Links – Build relationships with local groups, charities, and the church to enrich the life of the school.
  • Promote the School – Support marketing efforts to showcase achievements and attract new families.
  • Advance Citizenship & Sustainability – Encourage environmental responsibility, social action, and pupil participation in eco-initiatives.

Growing into the Role of Chair

With the full support of the current Chair, you will learn to:

  • Lead the School Forum – Provide clear direction, chair meetings effectively, and keep discussions focused on key priorities.
  • Be a Critical Friend – Offer guidance and support to the Headteacher, helping to monitor safeguarding, equalities objectives, and delegated Trust functions.
  • Represent the School – Participate in Trust panels for complaints, exclusions, and other delegated responsibilities.

Why Join?

This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to society and the local community, while also gaining valuable experience that supports personal and career development, including:

  • Leadership and public speaking
  • Communication and networking
  • Community engagement and project planning

You will receive mentoring from the current Chair to build confidence and skills for stepping into the role.

 Time Commitment

  • 5 School Forum meetings per academic year
  • Occasional Trust-level forums and community events (depending on the role).
