About this Role

We are looking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Computer Science teacher to bring their strong subject knowledge to this innovative area of our curriculum.

We have learners of Computer Science at KS3, KS4, and A level, and OCR Cambridge National in IT as our vocational pathway. The successful candidate will be able to inspire and motivate all pupils and students to develop their understanding, enjoy their learning and make progress.

We would welcome applications from qualified teachers with a range of experiences, including ECTs.

We will have high expectations of you to be a positive role model committed to the distinctive ethos of our School, where we strive for academic excellence, underpinned by character education. In return we can offer:

  • Professional Development:  We are committed to your growth.  You will benefit from ongoing professional development, with additional training days to enhance your teaching pedagogy
  • Research & Development: Enjoy 3 dedicated days per year to focus on your own research or professional development
  • World-class Resources and Partnerships:  Access cutting-edge resources, research, and professional networks through our collaboration with the University of Birmingham School of Education
  • Enrichment Opportunities: Be involved in our exciting timetabled enrichment programme, making a meaningful impact beyond the classroom.

Visits to the school are welcome.  To arrange, please contact Katie Tennant on 0121 796 5008.  For further information please visit our school website.

Please note that we will not consider applications via CV.

The University of Birmingham School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff to share this commitment.

The successful candidate will be subject to all necessary pre-employment checks including: enhanced DBS; Prohibition Check; qualifications; medical fitness; identity and right to work.

All applicants will be required to provide two suitable references.  If you are currently working in a school setting, please ensure that your references include your current Head Teacher.

An online search will also be carried out as part of due diligence on all short-listed candidates.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020, which means that when applying for certain jobs and activities certain spent convictions and cautions are 'protected', so they do not need to be disclosed to employers, and if they are disclosed, employers cannot take them into account.  Further information about filtering offences can be found in the DBS filtering guide.

Safeguarding is our top priority.  We encourage all applicants to review our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy, which outlines our commitment to the safety and wellbeing of pupils and students.
