We are looking to
recruit a talented Chemistry teacher who is able to bring their enthusiasm and
strong subject knowledge to enable further development of Chemistry in the
School.
The successful candidate will join a friendly, welcoming and exciting department of four full-time talented and committed teachers and a dedicated technician. They will have the opportunity to teach KS3 up to A’level, as well as contribute to our science themed enrichment programmes. Chemistry is a popular subject within our large sixth form - we currently have approximately 200 students studying the subject at A-level across 8 classes. We look to plan collaboratively in teams wherever possible, sharing resources to allow us to spend our time focusing on practice and minimising workload.
Please see our additional information sheets for more details about our Chemistry Department at UOBS.
Visits to the school are welcomed.
We are holding Open Events on Tuesday 6th January and
Thursday 8th January 2026 from 4.00pm-5.00pm, where you will get the
opportunity to meet the Subject Leader and find out more about our department
and facilities. If you would like to
book on to either of these events, please contact Katie Tennant, School
Business Manager, at k.tennant@uobschool.org.uk.
Please note that we will not consider applications via CV and are unable to offer visa sponsorship.
The University of Birmingham School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff to share this commitment.
The successful candidate will be subject to all necessary pre-employment checks including: enhanced DBS; Prohibition Check; qualifications; medical fitness; identity and right to work.
All applicants will be required to provide two suitable references. If you are currently working in a school setting, please ensure that your references include your current Head Teacher.
An online search will also be carried out as part of due diligence on all short-listed candidates.
