We are seeking an enthusiastic and talented Subject Leader of Art & Design to lead and develop a vibrant, inclusive, and ambitious department within our secondary school.

The Role

As Subject Leader for Art & Design, you will:

  • Provide strategic leadership for Art & Design across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5 including 3D Design
  • Develop and deliver an engaging, ambitious curriculum that inspires creativity and progression
  • Lead on raising standards of teaching, learning, and achievement in the subject
  • Support, mentor, and inspire colleagues within the department
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, using data to inform teaching and intervention
  • Promote the subject within the wider school community through displays, exhibitions, and events
  • Manage resources effectively and contribute to whole‑school development

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A love for their subject
  • Qualified Teacher Status with strong subject knowledge in Art & Design including 3D Design
  • An excellent classroom practitioner with a track record of engaging and inspiring students, supporting them to achieve their best
  • Passionate about creative education and inclusive practice and confidence in teaching students in a variety of techniques and styles
  • Confident in leading, or ready to take the next step into middle leadership
  • Committed to collaboration, continuous improvement, and high expectations

Experience of curriculum leadership or mentoring colleagues is desirable, but we also welcome applications from ambitious teachers ready to develop their leadership skills.
