The position will focus on providing support to children with SEND as well as providing general classroom support so experience of working with children with specific learning needs is desirable. The individual will:
• Work with individuals or small groups of children with SEND under the direction of teaching staff
• Demonstrate competence in implementing planned learning activities / teaching programmes as agreed with colleagues, adjusting activities according to pupil's response
• Be able to support pupils with literacy and numeracy skills
• Promote the inclusion of children with SEND both within the classroom and during non class-based learning, ensuring access to learning through appropriate clarification, explanation and resources
• Help children with social, welfare and health matters
• Be resilient and positive, showing initiative and flexibility to have excellent inter-personal and communication skills.
