Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Location: Haxby Road Primary Academy 

Hours:  Three days per week 8.30am - 3.30pm with half an hour for lunch

Salary: £31,015 - £33,673

Actual salary: £14,145 - £15,357

Contract: Fixed Term for 1 year Term Time Only


The role will be mainly in KS2. You will be doing "catch up and keep up" interventions and covering classes

We are looking for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) who is passionate about developing the true potential of children through a nurturing, inspiring, challenging and motivating environment.

About you

Being a HLTA requires a certain set of skills and expertise

·        You will have calm and caring disposition

·        The ability to break down activities into small step and step teaching

·        A team player, willing to work closely with likeminded people who all have the children’s best interest at heart

·        Someone who is able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding in child development and the curriculum

·        Passionate about enhancing each child’s experiences and building upon their learning.

·        Someone who is able to ‘step in’ to support the Class Teacher as and when needed, this may be supporting small groups of children or leading whole class activities

We are looking for someone who is able to work flexibly, someone who is adaptable and able to work in line with the needs of the school and the children who attend.
