About this Role

JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Level 3 Qualified Practitioner to join our nursery team at Braywick. This role is a maternity cover, and due to staffing needs, the successful candidate will also be required to take on managerial responsibilities and support the team during this period.

Working closely with staff, parents, and external stakeholders, you will ensure high-quality childcare and education for children in the nursery, promoting a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment.

Areas of Responsibility and Key Tasks

Strategic Direction and Leadership

  • Support the temporary leadership of the nursery in the absence of both the Nursery Manager and Deputy Manager.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of nursery policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with the broader goals of the Multi-Academy Trust (MAT).

  • Lead by example to foster a culture of excellence, inclusion, and professionalism within the team.

Teaching and Learning

  • Plan and deliver a stimulating and developmentally appropriate curriculum for children aged 2-5.

  • Observe, monitor, and assess children’s progress, ensuring records are kept up-to-date and parents are informed of their child's development.

  • Support the team in implementing best practices for early years education, ensuring compliance with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.

Parent and Community Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with parents and carers, acting as a point of contact for any concerns or queries.

  • Encourage parental involvement in the nursery and facilitate effective communication regarding their child’s experiences and progress.

Administration and Compliance

  • Ensure all documentation, including risk assessments, accident reports, and planning records, is completed and maintained in accordance with regulatory requirements.

  • Monitor and manage resources effectively, ensuring the nursery is well-equipped to meet the needs of the children.

Key Requirements

  • Level 3 Qualification in Early Years or equivalent (essential).

  • Proven experience in a nursery or early years setting, with a strong understanding of the EYFS framework.

  • Some experience in a leadership or supervisory role would be desirable, with the ability to support and motivate a team.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, with up-to-date knowledge of relevant policies and procedures.

Desirable

  • Paediatric First Aid certification.

  • Experience working within a Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) or similar organisation.

Additional Information

This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and supportive nursery environment. It is a fixed-term maternity cover post, and flexibility will be required to meet the needs of the setting.
