About this Role

Speech & Language Therapist Vacancy

Help shape the future of communication in our all-age special school

This is not just another SALT role.

This is your opportunity to transform how communication is understood, taught and lived across an entire school community.

At Billing Brook School, we believe communication changes lives. Every gesture, symbol, word and interaction matters—and we are relentless in our commitment to ensuring every child has a voice and knows it deserves to be heard.

We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist who shares that belief and is excited by the chance to build, influence and innovate—someone ready to leave their mark on a truly meaningful whole-school approach to communication.

 • Do you believe every child and young person deserves the confidence, skills, and voice to be truly heard?

·        • We are passionate about supporting children and young people to:

·        • Develop meaningful and effective ways to communicate

·         • Understand and interpret the world around them

·         • Express their needs, wants, ideas and opinions with growing confidence

·         • Build the motivation and self-belief to initiate and sustain positive social interactions

·         • Grow communication skills that underpin emotional understanding, independence, self-help, and life beyond school

If you’re inspired by helping young people, find their voice and unlock their potential, come and join us.

 The Role

We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated and forward-thinking Speech and Language Therapist to join our school community.

This is a chance to shape what speech and language provision looks like across an all-age special school, working creatively and collaboratively to embed communication at the centre of learning.

Use your specialist expertise to lead, organise and develop SALT provision across the school
Design and deliver innovative, high-quality communication programmes for individuals and groups
Play a key role in maximising every pupil’s communication potential through creative and tailored approaches
Manage and prioritise a diverse caseload of children and young people with special educational needs
Drive improvement and innovation, contributing to research and service development aligned with school priorities
Support and empower others by leading, training and working alongside staff, including communication champions across the school

 Why Join Us?

This is a truly exciting opportunity to:

• Shape a whole-school communication approach from early years through to post-16
• Work as part of a passionate, values-driven team
• Influence practice beyond therapy sessions—embedding communication across the curriculum and daily life
• Make a genuine, visible difference to the lives of children and young people every day

We will consider part-time hours or flexible working however these will need to fit in with the operational needs of the school.
