George Grenville Academy, our vibrant, one-form-entry primary school in
the heart of Buckingham, is seeking an exceptional Assistant Headteacher
with responsibility for Special Educational Needs (SEN) to join our

About the Role
As Assistant Headteacher and SENCO, you will:
SENCO
Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic development of the school’s provision for pupils
with SEND, ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice.
- Identify and assess pupils with additional needs, coordinating
high-quality provision and intervention.
- Oversee the cycle of assess–plan–do–review and ensure high-quality,
person-centred support plans.
- Work closely with families, staff, external agencies, and the
Campfire Education Trust inclusion team to secure the best outcomes for
pupils.
- Manage the SEND resources, and support staff deployment
effectively.
- Provide training, coaching, and guidance to staff to ensure
inclusive, adaptive classroom practice.
- Lead on statutory processes, including EHCP applications, annual
reviews, and progress reporting.
Assistant
Headteacher Responsibilities
- Contribute to the strategic leadership and day-to-day management of
the school.
- Lead by example in teaching and learning, modelling excellent
classroom practice.
- Support whole-school self-evaluation, improvement planning, and
curriculum development.
- Drive high expectations and a positive behaviour culture across the
school.
- Line-manage staff, conduct performance reviews, and support
professional development.
- Deputise for the Head of School when required and represent the
school across the Trust.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds the NASENCo qualification (or is committed to completing it).
- Has proven experience as a SENCO or senior leader with a strong
understanding of inclusive practice.
- Is an excellent classroom practitioner with a passion for raising
standards for all learners.
- Demonstrates strategic thinking, emotional intelligence, and the
ability to inspire others.
- Builds strong, nurturing relationships with children, families, and
staff.
- Is committed to collaboration and innovation as part of Campfire Education
Trust.
