About this Role

This is a varied and rewarding role at the heart of Wantage CE Primary School.  You will be responsible for managing the front office and administrative function, ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the service.

Working closely with the Office Administrator and wider leadership team, you will take a proactive approach to managing your workload and responding to the needs of a busy school environment. You will act as the first point of contact for pupils, parents, staff, and visitors, providing a professional, calm, and welcoming presence at all times.

Key Responsibilities

        Managing reception duties and being the main point of contact for all enquiries.

        Handling telephone calls, emails, and face-to-face interactions with professionalism and sensitivity.

        Maintaining accurate records using systems such as Bromcom and Parent Pay.

        Providing comprehensive administrative and organisational support.

        Ensuring that daily operations run efficiently through effective planning and prioritisation.

        Supporting staff and leadership with general administrative tasks.

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking a capable and self-motivated individual who is comfortable taking initiative and managing a wide range of responsibilities in a dynamic environment.

Essential skills and experience:

        Excellent written and verbal communication skills

        Strong administrative and organisational abilities

        Confidence in managing tasks independently and prioritising workload effectively

        Ability to remain calm, adaptable, and solution-focused in a fast-paced setting

        Good ICT skills and experience using a range of systems

        A positive, professional, and team-oriented approach

Additional requirements:

        Numeracy and literacy skills equivalent to NVQ Level 2 or GCSE grades A–C / 9–4

        Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships

        A flexible and resilient approach when working with young people who may need additional support

        Experience using Bromcom (desirable)

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting pupils and contributing positively to a provision that works with young people who may present complex needs. A calm, patient, and consistent approach is essential.
