Home School Link Worker

Are you a current or aspiring Home School Link Worker (HSLW) looking for a new opportunity? If you enjoy making a meaningful difference to the lives of children and families, this role is the perfect opportunity for you.  

The successful candidate will work at Wantage CE Primary School to support children and families to thrive in school. A main focus of the role will be to help families to address barriers to attendance and success in school for their children. 

We are looking for someone to add their experience to our successful and supportive Pastoral Team led by our Pastoral Lead. You will be a suitably qualified professional who is able to demonstrate and deploy well-developed professional skills, knowledge and abilities in order to add value to both schools and fulfil this role successfully. You will need a positive, resilient attitude and be able to support our most vulnerable families and children.

The successful candidate will be approachable, knowledgeable, particularly in relation to Safeguarding procedures, as they will work closely with the Headteacher and Pastoral Lead as part of the school pastoral team.

We are looking for someone: 

Who is resilient, relentless and believes all children can succeed.

Is a highly skilled communicator.

Form strong, empathetic relationships with parents and teaching staff & uphold confidentiality.

Who is highly motivated and able to efficiently manage their timetable and prioritise workload according to need and as directed. 

Has ability to work flexibly and effectively on your own and as part of a team. 

Some understanding of the range of issues which can affect learning and attendance as well as an understanding of how to signpost families to receive help. 

Has sound ICT skills to keep efficient, concise and accessible records.

Has English and Maths to GCSE grade C.

Has a positive attitude and a sense of humour.  

Hours/Working Pattern & Salary

Responsible to: Senior Leadership Team  

Contract Hours:  37 hours per week (term time only).  Flexible working hours can be discussed.

Pay Range:  Grade 8, scale P18 -P23 (£30, 559- £33,366 (pro rata) depending on experience and current qualification.

Closing Date: 3rd January 2025
