About this Role

We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and experienced Early Years Practitioner to join Charlton Pre-School (Acorns) as a more senior member of our Pre-school team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced practitioner to help lead high-quality early years provision in a warm, nurturing, and inclusive environment.

About the Role

As a more senior member of the support team, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day running of the pre-school and ensuring children receive high-quality care and education. You will work closely with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to create a safe, stimulating, and engaging learning environment where every child can thrive.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong early years knowledge, initiative, and the ability to support and guide colleagues within the setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the planning and delivery of creative and engaging activities in line with the EYFS framework.
  • Act as a senior member of the support team, helping to maintain high standards of care and learning.
  • Promote children’s learning, independence, wellbeing, and positive behaviour.
  • Observe, assess, and record children’s progress accurately.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with children, families, staff, and external agencies.
  • Support the inclusion of all children, including those with additional needs.
  • Ensure safeguarding, health and safety, and welfare requirements are consistently met.
  • Contribute to the smooth day-to-day organisation of the pre-school environment.

The Ideal candidate will have

  • A relevant Level 3 qualification in Early Years Childcare or equivalent.
  • Significant experience working within an early years setting.
  • Strong knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
  • Experience supporting or mentoring colleagues within a team.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • A warm, patient, and enthusiastic approach to working with young children.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

We Offer

  • A supportive and friendly team environment.
  • Opportunities for continued professional development and training.
  • A rewarding opportunity to make a positive difference in children’s early education.
  • Well-resourced and welcoming learning space (soon to be renewed)
