A Teacher of Science at Bishop Milner Catholic College plays a vital part in helping students develop a strong understanding of scientific principles while nurturing their curiosity about how the world works. The role centres on delivering engaging, well‑planned lessons across all key stages, using practical investigations, demonstrations, and real‑world examples to make learning meaningful and accessible.
You’ll be responsible for designing and delivering high‑quality lessons, assessing progress, and adapting teaching to support a wide range of students. Maintaining a safe, organised laboratory environment is essential, as is promoting good scientific practice and encouraging students to think critically, ask questions, and develop problem‑solving skills.
Collaboration is a key part of the role: you’ll work closely with colleagues within the science department to develop curriculum materials, share best practice, and contribute to a cohesive, ambitious programme of study. Beyond the classroom, you may also support enrichment opportunities such as STEM clubs, science fairs, educational visits, or competitions that broaden students’ experiences.
ECTs are encouraged to apply.
Visits to the College are welcomed and can be arranged by contacting the College reception
