As Second-in-Department: Science, you will play a key leadership role in supporting the Head of Department to deliver high-quality teaching and learning across the science department. You will contribute to shaping curriculum design, driving standards of achievement, and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence in science education.
Key responsibilities include:
• Assisting in the strategic planning and day-to-day management of the department.
• Supporting colleagues with lesson planning, assessment strategies, and professional development.
• Leading on specific areas of the science curriculum or initiatives, as delegated by the Head of Department.
• Monitoring student progress and outcomes, ensuring high expectations are maintained for all learners.
• Promoting enrichment opportunities and inspiring students to engage with science beyond the classroom.
• Acting as a role model for effective teaching practice and contributing to a collaborative, supportive team environment.
