About this Role

Apprentice Teaching Assistant (Level 3)

Contract: Fixed Term

Start: September 2026 until February 2028

Hours: 32.50 hours per week, term time only

Salary: Grade 3

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and committed Apprentice Teaching Assistant to join our school community. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience while working towards a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship, developing the skills needed to support children with high-quality, professional care.

You will be fully supported throughout your journey by both Over Hall Community and the apprentice provider Lift Schools, ensuring you receive high-quality training, guidance, and mentoring at every stage of your apprenticeship.

Training & Qualification

As part of your role, you will complete a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship, a nationally recognised qualification designed to ensure you are fully equipped to support pupils effectively.

  • Training Provider: Lift Schools
  • Training Costs: Fully funded (no cost to you)

Your Learning & Development

Although this is a full-time role, dedicated time will be built into your working week to complete your apprenticeship coursework, training, and study.

You will receive:

  • 6 hours per week off-the-job training, including:
    • 3 hours personal study and portfolio development (with monthly 1:1 sessions with Lift Schools trainers)
    • 3 hours practical development, including:
      • Safeguarding, Prevent, GDPR, and school-based training
      • Shadowing experienced colleagues
      • Supporting children with additional needs
      • Applying new knowledge, skills, and behaviours in the workplace

This structured approach ensures you can successfully balance your job role with your qualification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support teaching and learning within the classroom
  • Assist children individually and in small groups
  • Help create a positive, inclusive learning environment
  • Support children with a range of needs, including those requiring additional support
  • Work alongside experienced staff to develop your skills and confidence

What We’re Looking For

  • A genuine interest in working with children and young people
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A willingness to learn and develop professionally
  • Commitment to completing the apprenticeship qualification
  • A caring, patient, and positive attitude

Post-Apprenticeship Opportunities

Many of our apprentices progress into permanent roles upon completion of their qualification. While this is not guaranteed, decisions regarding continued employment will be made closer to the end of the programme based on school needs.

Why Join Us?

  • Gain a fully funded, nationally recognised qualification
  • Earn while you learn – no tuition costs
  • Receive dedicated support from both your school and Lift Schools
  • Have protected time during your working week to complete your training
  • Build valuable skills and experience in education
  • Develop a pathway into a long-term career in schools
