The Governors of Westleigh Methodist Primary School, part of Epworth Education Trust, are seeking to appoint an outstanding, passionate and experienced teacher to join our dedicated team as a SEND Unit Teacher and Assistant SENCo. This is an exciting opportunity to work within our new SEND Unit, supporting pupils with complex special educational needs and disabilities while also contributing to the development of inclusive practice across the wider school. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality teaching for pupils with additional needs and supporting the leadership and coordination of SEND provision across the school.
We are looking for an excellent teacher who:
Has strong experience of teaching and supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, including pupils with complex needs.
Can deliver high-quality, adaptive teaching that enables pupils with SEND to access learning and make strong progress.
Has a secure understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and the graduated approach (Assess–Plan–Do–Review).
Can work effectively with teaching assistants, families and external professionals to support pupils with additional needs.
Will contribute to the role of Assistant SENCo, supporting the coordination of SEND provision, annual reviews and inclusive practice across the school.
Demonstrates excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.
Will maintain high expectations for all pupils and nurture their confidence, independence and wellbeing.
Will be an active member of our school community and contribute to the school’s Christian ethos and nurturing environment.
Is flexible in their approach, open to new ideas and committed to working collaboratively as part of a supportive team.
